Nomad Sidekick is a free travel blog, and some of the links on this site are affiliate links. That means if you click a link and buy something, I may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. This disclosure follows the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guidance.
Affiliate programs I use
- Amazon Associates: Nomad Sidekick is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
- ShopMy: I keep my favorite travel, hiking and backpacking gear on my ShopMy page. Purchases made through ShopMy links may earn me a commission.
- Geniuslink: Some product links use Geniuslink short links (geni.us), which send you to the right store for your country. These are usually Amazon affiliate links.
When a post contains affiliate links, I say so at the top of the post. You can see all of my gear recommendations in one place in My Favorite Hiking & Backpacking Gear.
What I recommend (and what I don’t)
I only recommend gear, snacks and services I actually use, have used, or would genuinely buy myself. A commission never changes my opinion. If something disappointed me on the trail (like my first backpacking tent), I’ll tell you.
Some links on the site go to retailers or resources without any affiliate relationship, like REI product pages or CoolWorks for seasonal jobs. Those are there simply because I think they’re helpful.
Sponsored content
If I ever partner with a brand on a sponsored post or receive a product for free, I’ll clearly label it in that post.
